Before using the PP reactor, be sure to close the refrigerant feed valve, then turn on the mixer and add the materials. Next, connect the other steam valves and power supply to the PP reactor. Now, let’s take a closer look at the installation steps for mechanical seals used in PP reactors!

After reaching the required temperature, turn off the steam valve and the power supply. Two to three minutes later, turn off the mixer. Once processing is complete, clamp the remaining condensate in the pot, rinse the stainless steel reactor with warm water, and then clean it with an alkaline solution at 40–50°C to enhance the reactor’s durability. In particular, when the pot is empty of any materials, never open the steam valve or the power supply.
In our daily lives, we often see two people buying identical phones and other items at the same time. One person tends to use these items for a long time, while the other person ends up discarding their belongings sooner—often because they don’t take good care of them. Similarly, the same applies to PP reactors: we shouldn’t always keep them running at full capacity; instead, we should know how to properly maintain them and also learn ways to enhance their durability during use.
The steps for installing a PP reactor with a mechanical seal are as follows.
1) First, check the sealing quality of the reactor (whether there are scratches or other marks on the mating surfaces of the rotating and stationary rings).
2) Wipe away any foreign objects from the O-ring of the moving ring and from the surfaces of both the moving and stationary rings using a clean, soft cloth. According to the usage requirements of the medium in the reaction tank, apply a small amount of lubricant to these surfaces.
3) Use a level and a dial indicator to adjust the horizontal alignment of the stationary ring of the mechanical seal and the verticality of the sealing section of the agitator shaft, ensuring compliance with the specified requirements.
4) Install and secure the mechanical seal base and the retaining ring, ensuring that the mechanical seal spring is evenly loaded. Adjust the hex socket set screws on the retaining ring mounted on the agitator shaft to ensure tight contact between the end faces of the moving and stationary rings of the mechanical seal. Finally, complete the overall assembly and perform a test run.
5) When the balance tank is installed on the frame as required, connect the pipelines for the sealing fluid’s inlet and outlet as well as the pipeline connecting the mechanical seal. Also connect the pipeline from the nitrogen cylinder, pressure regulator, and balance tank. After the hydrostatic pressure test meets the requirements, connect the water jacket and wait for the entire machine to undergo a trial run using cooling water.
6) When the temperature of the medium inside the reactor is below 80°C, cooling oil is added to the cooling tank for cooling. The method of adding oil does not affect the quality of the material inside the tank. Generally, the oil should have a high heat of vaporization, be clean with few impurities, and possess excellent lubricating properties. When the medium temperature exceeds 80°C, circulating water is used for cooling via the bottom cooling jacket and the cooling tank.
The magnetic-drive agitator for PP reactors employs the “static sealing” principle to achieve “zero-leakage” protection. It transmits torque and energy between the power input and output via magnetic coupling. A pressure-resistant stainless steel spacer is installed between the power input and output, creating a purely static-sealed structure that ensures tight sealing with “zero leakage.” This PP reactor is widely used in industries such as chemical processing, water treatment, pharmaceuticals, metallurgy, cosmetics, and food—particularly in sectors with extremely high requirements for sealing components.
